In my old journal, I used to randomly post some under the radar sites that I like to check out from time to time. I haven't done that in a while and having gone through some of my bookmarks it reminded me of how I liked sharing the corners of the web that I've wandered to that some of you have not. Enjoy!

A true love story

Sorting through old files and pictures and stuff almost always result in finding something you remember fondly, or not so fondly, but no matter what you always come up with something interesting.

The following is titled "A Love Story" by The Niff. She did this wonderful piece of artwork in MS Paint, and I think it tells a heartwarming, yet sad and almost Shakespearean tragic love story.

You can't make this stuff up. Instant classic.

You will always be my Guitar Hero....

It took all of 10 seconds to get the Niff hooked on Guitar Hero in Best Buy. The girl has something inside that helps her with games that require rhythm and style.

She has conquered the Donkey Konga Bongos, and now she must conquer the guitar.

It is more than just playing a game, it is reaching deep inside yourself and becoming the Konga or Rocker that you really are. I've tried to do this, but I don't have an inner Rocker or Konga.

But the Niff does.

Must find a way to buy this for less than the $90 it is selling for. Otherwise I have a feeling we will be hitting Best Buy every other day just so she can get her fix.

Especially since they have some Police and Sting songs on there...

O'Saban Bin Lying

Below is an email from my buddy Mark, a huge Dolphins/Marino fan growing up and longtime Patriot fan when the Fins weren't playing the Pats. This is more than funny to me.

Dan,

   The following is a recent list of mistakes & troubles regarding the Miami Dolphins. Dan Marino retires and the Dolphins have gotten steadily worse each year.

1) Signing Culpepper over Brees.

2) Starting Culpepper while he was still injured.

3)O'Saban Bin Lying leaves to go to 'Bama.

4) Drafting some guy named Ted over Brady Quinn.

5) Letting go of Wes Welker to NE for a future draft pick.

6) Paying Ricky Williams in Marijuana.

7) Ronnie Brown out for season.

8) Zach Thomas gets concussion and misses numerous games.

9) Trent Green signed because of #4 above.

10) Green trying to block and now must contemplate retirement

11) Trade Chris Chambers for a draft pick.

12) Signing a newhead coach not named Shula.

13) Not picking me in the 8th round of the draft where I was clearly a bargin pick.

14) Letting go of Olindo Mare and signing ... ??

15) Jason Taylor meets a Spice girl in London this weekend and is convinced to retire on the spot. He never returns to America.

16) Ted Ginn Jr. goes onto the NFL Hall of Fame... as a custodian.

17) Tired of seeing his team lose, Marino comes out of retirement only tohave his leg broken in half in the 1st quarter of his 1st game back. He puts back on all the weight that he lost from those commercials.

18) Residence of Miami stop attending Dolphins games. They concluded it'd be less painful to sit at home and poke each other in the eyes.

19) The NFL pulls the franchise from Miami for poor attendence and poor on-field performance.

20) In 2024, all Dolphins games and stats erased from the record to avoid further embarassment.

This is so funny because the majority of it is true, sadly. If Mark was not also a Patriots fan, I would be greatly concerned for him.

 

Too tired to do much

Too tired to do much of anything. Sox on too late plus waking up early equals severe sudden onset of needing to sleep. Not good.

I can get World Series tickets...

Yes, I can. I really can.

I just want bleacher seats, and all I need is two tickets. And I can get them.

This isn't a joke, this is the real deal. Stubhub has the tickets waiting for me, I just need to step up to the plate and buy them.

Thank God I have a spare $2230 lying around:

World Series Game 1

It's Game 1 of the World Series. STILL the bottom of the 5th and STILL 2 outs. Bases are STILL loaded, and it's 12-1 Boston. It's raining like a bitch, and we've scored 4 more runs than the Rockies had let up in all of the NLCS.

Beckett at one point struck out the first 5 batters he faced, and is bitching beautiful. We're getting production from every guy in the lineup. This is how it should have been with the Indians. Someone woke the sleeping giant.

Speaking of waking, it's a shame MLB doesn't move these games to even 7:30pm EST. With it raining, there is a possibility this game could slow down faster or even go into a rain delay and push the end of this game into tomorrow. Why do that to your fans? Especially the Boston fans???? Come on now, lets get serious.

New toys in my future?

I want a new phone. The iPhone is amazing, does everything I want, but at the same time their network coverage is abysmal in New Hampshire. Not to mention the hefty price tag.

I've had Nextel and hated the spotty coverage. Love the coverage for Verizon, love it for Sprint (even though they merged with Nextel), and have heard fairly good things about US Cellular.

Sprint has the latest and greatest phones, AT&T has the iPhone, and Verizon is always months if not years behind in their phone catalog. This isn't a bad thing as it gives them time to work through bugs and what not.

That said, Verizon is debuting something called the Verizon Voyager that some are saying is the iPhone Killer. Who knows, I personally doubt it. But its sleek looking either way:

Yes, I know it looks familiar, I think that is the point. Supposedly this bad larry opens up and you have a full QWERTY keyboard and another smaller screen. If Verizon wants to convert other people to their service I think they should sell this for $199. I'm serious. It'd be much cheaper than the iPhone, and they have a much more stable network than AT&T.

I'm looking for a lot for my phone: I want something that I can text, IM, email, Wi-Fi, music, camera, a full web browser, Windows Mobile, and Bluetooth, not to mention Windows Mobile Word and Excel, and and SD card slot so I can bring in music or any other data. I want to be able to post to my blog from it, and have a fully functional calendar. I want to be able to download the mobile GMail client onto it. I want to be able to access my online banking, as well as my work email. I want something with so much functionality that I will feel more lost without it than if I forgot my wallet at home. And I want it all at a reasonable price.

It would also be nice too if it could make and receive phone calls.

One other phone I'm pretty excited about is the Samsung SCH-i760. Thing looks pretty badass, and seems like it should be able to do just about all I want. I don't know, I'll have to see though. Very interesting though: Verizon has it on their site that you can get some $100 credit for the phone somehow.

Here is the thing:

On Verizon's website on their news area they show this phone and talk about Verizon's new spring line for PDAs and Smartphones. Underneath it says the following:

Customers purchasing any of these devices along with a voice and e-mail calling plan of $79.99 or higher or a voice calling plan of $39.99 or higher with an unlimited BlackBerry/PDA/smartphone data plan are eligible for an additional $100 credit toward the purchase of the device. This credit is in addition to the mail-in rebate associated with the purchase of the device. Details available at time of purchase."

What does this mean exactly?

It is currently listed on the Website as $399, with a $100 online discount, as well as a $50 mail in rebate, bringing the price down to $249. If this phone qualifies for the $100 credit as well, would that bring it down to $149? And if so, once I get my New Every Two, would that mean it would only cost $49?

Who knows, but I'm going to find out sooner rather than later. It's gone from being a want to feeling more like a need. I have this innate need to be "productive" and I think this would go a long way to do that. Plus, it would give me access to do things I used to do so easily before but can't do anymore.

We'll see what I end up with :)       

I dont get people that

I dont get people that dont pull over for ambulances until the last second or people that walk slowly in crosswalks. Never will.

My drug of choice: diet soda

Hi, my name is Dan and I am addicted to diet soda. Ask anyone that has been effected by my addiction and they will say the same. Steve laughs everytime we hit Target or any place that has a good deal on the stuff and I buy ten cases of it. The way I look at it is at least its not crack or booze. At the same time it has no calories so at least I am not drinking my calories right? I have other addictions I can get into another time but for now leave me and my drug alone. Never did any thing to you.
