I'm a huge fan of Chobani. I love it. It's running through my veins. So you can imagine how I felt today when I opened up my yogurt, blindly licked the lid and tasted mold.
From a yogurt I bought last night.
That expires in mid-September.
Sure enough, I look inside and what do I see: a dollop of mold.
I was bummed but not super upset. I've had Chobani 100s of times and this was the first issue I've ever had. So I emailed them. In less than an hour, I get a response:
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We sincerely apologize for this quality issue. We are dedicated to producing the highest quality products made with only natural ingredients and take these issues very seriously. The full code from the color band at the bottom of the cup is needed for Quality Control Department to investigate this concern.
I have attached a photo of the code and its location on our cups.
Our quality standards are very exact and these types of issues are rare. Chobani is made with only natural ingredients meaning we don't add preservatives, synthetic growth hormones, or other artificial additives to our products. We must rely solely on proper refrigeration to ensure quality throughout each cup's shelf life. It must remain refrigerated at 34-38 F. It’s very possible this perfect cup of Chobani was subjected to a temperature it wasn’t able to tolerate prior to you purchasing it to enjoy.
Regardless, we sincerely apologize that you received a cup of Chobani that was anything less than a smooth, creamy perfection. Replacement coupons shall be sent to you in the mail. I’ll look for your reply with the additional information regarding the code if you still have that cup at issue.
We appreciate your understanding.
Do you know what that means? As if they didn't have one already, they have a customer for life. Customer Service people get abused far too much for things they did not even do. I simply emailed them to let them know of my encounter with a furry thing of mold and told them it's never happened before, and it would not impact me buying Chobani in the future, I just wanted to make them aware of the issue. I know far too many people that would have called or emailed and spewed F bombs and whatnot, but there's no need for that. No one died. No one almost died. I tasted mold. Who cares?
See, being nice does pay off.
