The first Sox/Yanks series just finished with the Sox taking 2 out of 3. Before we know it they'll be off to New York after a 3 game series in Cleveland for a quick 2 game series.
It's very similar to the Army/Navy rivalry: it's nice when you win other games, in fact, it's more than nice…but nothing matters more than those matchups against each other. It's not as extreme as that, but it's the same basic principle. I'm sure Red Sox Nation would be pretty upset if the Sox went 18-144 on the season but swept all the Yankees games.
Every time the latest Sox/Yanks series is over, it leaves us wanting more. Every time.
