There has been a lot of news lately with the Sox, and rather than write about all that for a minute I'd like to take a stance on something that is of the utmost importance, not only in the world of baseball, but in all professional sports.
A few years ago, two drunken fans charged the 1st base coach of the Kansas City Royals and attempted to beat him down. Too often fans get liquoured up and rush the field, or do it on a bet.
Last night during the Red Sox game it happened again.

If security was allowed to absolutely pummel on idiots like this and hired ex-college or pro football players to chase them down, things would get a lot better fast. They should also fine people $50,000. Not $10,000, not $20,000, but $50,000. Hell, make it $100,000. People would stop doing it, and if not, it would set them back financially in a big way.
Hit them where it hurts: in the face and in the pocket.
