It's Game 1 of the World Series. STILL the bottom of the 5th and STILL 2 outs. Bases are STILL loaded, and it's 12-1 Boston. It's raining like crazy, and we've scored 4 more runs than the Rockies had let up in all of the NLCS.
Beckett at one point struck out the first 5 batters he faced, and is bitching beautiful. We're getting production from every guy in the lineup. This is how it should have been with the Indians. Someone woke the sleeping giant.
Speaking of waking, it's a shame MLB doesn't move these games to even 7:30pm EST. With it raining, there is a possibility this game could slow down faster or even go into a rain delay and push the end of this game into tomorrow. Why do that to your fans? Especially the Boston fans???? Come on now, lets get serious.
On an even more serious note, I think Major League Baseball needs to find a way to get the hometown commentators in the game. The best way to do this is to keep the Series (and all playoffs) on Fox or whoever owns the rights to them, but for those home areas (in this case, Colorado and Boston) allow the networks that normally air all of their regular season games to do their own game calling. The Fenway Faithful and Red Sox Nation as a whole want and need to see Orsillo and Remy in the booth, and not Yankee loving McCarver and Captain Obvious Joe Buck. They work the other 162 games during the year and the playoffs are torn out of them like an 8 month old fetus from it's mother's womb. Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN has Joe Morgan and I flip between that and NESN to see what they are saying and just enjoying both sides of it. I would do the same here too if I had a choice.
I really think this needs to happen though. You need to be fair to the fans, the commentators, and the teams.
