I find it funny that any time any Yankee is suspended at any time Bob Watson always reduces their suspensions, but when it comes to a Red Sox player, it's a rarity they are dropped.
Watson originally suspended Kyle Farnsworth 3 games for throwing at Manny, and now it's been reduced to only 1 game. An interesting tidbit about Watson from Wikipedia:
At the end of the 1993 season he was named general manager of the Houston Astros, becoming the first ever African American to serve as a GM in the major leagues. He served as GM for the New York Yankees from October 23, 1995 to February 2, 1998. The 1996 team won the World Series, the first Yankee team to do so since 1978. After the 1997 season, Watson retired from the Yankees and now serves as Major League Baseball's vice president in charge of discipline and vice president of rules and on-field operations.
Hmmmm…so a former Yankee handing out suspensions? Why is it only one guy? Why don't they have maybe 3 guys that vote on it?
Just something to think about and to take into consideration the next time a Sox player is suspended. See if it gets reduced at all.
